We will update this page whenever we make major changes to our web site

Current News - June 2, 2009

A week ago, on May 26th, Catherine Emily Green entered this world. She was a big girl, at 9 pounds, 6 ounces and 21.5 inches long. We are now adjusting to life as parents - quite the change! Some of the bazillion pictures we have taken of her during her first can be found here.

Well, the baby is officially late. Due yesterday (s)he decided not to make an appearance. If you have been madly checking this page for updates (not likely, I know) you might have noticed that our site was down for the last day or so. We have been dealing with an intermittent electrical issue that was finally fixed when BG&E made it out here during a time with no power and replaced the clamp from the main line to our feed. Other than that, we have been doing final preparations for the coming storm!

Lots of updates. We have added pictures to our Colorado Trail journal as well as our New Zealand journal. Also, we have moved our John Muir Trail journal over to our site.

We have also upgraded our Pentium II web server to a brand spanking new (OK, pulled from the Hopkins recycling pile) Pentium III, so prepare for blistering speeds.

Finally, the biggest news of all is that Lis is 37 weeks pregnant. The kiddo is due May 17th, and we are very excited. So we will probably have fewer hiking pictures and more baby pictures in the near future!

Our renovation is now complete. Our final journal entry shows some before and after pictures. Enjoy!

We're now back from our US road trip, and are starting renovations in earnest. Feel free to follow along in our progress- we'll try to post pictures and updates fairly regularly.

We have just departed on a last vacation before starting renovations - a US road trip. We are visiting some friends and also touring some national parks. You can read our journal here.

Today we closed on a rowhouse in Baltimore, MD. We are super excited to begin this new phase of our lives, which will mean a lot of updating this well cared for, but dated abode. Hopefully we will have some sort of blog showing our changes over time.

We are now back from New Zealand, having had a fantastic time. New Zealand is a truly magical country. You can read our journal here.

February 14, 2007

We leave for New Zealand on Sunday, February 18th. You can read our journal, which we will try to update at least once a week.

There has been quite a lot going on in our lives recently. Lis (and all of our stuff) moved back to the east coast at the start of this month. Brian is still in San Francisco, right now taking a break from writing his dissertation to update the web page. I will be here until early February, when I head back to the DC area. We will then head to New Zealand for 2 months. Once we come back, we will be wandering around the country for the summer of 2007, camping, hiking, taking pictures and visiting friends and family. This fall I am going to start a post doc in Brendan Cormack's lab at John's Hopkins. Check the New Zealand page for journal updates!

If you checked the main page, you probably saw the big news around here - Lis is now Dr. Lis. We are very excited about that, and Brian is rushing around trying to catch up.

Well, we have been back from Colorado for a while now, having had an amazing time. We are slowly starting to sort through the nearly 1,500 pictures and video clips that we took, but that might take a while. Once they get sorted and rated and organized, we will put up some of the best.

We just finished (another) web page redesign. Brian wrote a custom content management system that will allow us to do several things. The main thing is that we will be able to update our hiking journals via e-mail from our Pocketmail device. The CMS will also make it easier for my folks to update the pages while we are on the trail. If you find any bugs or broken links, please let use know. Thanks!

We made a change to the quilt page to correct an error. We inaccurately described DWR coated nylon ripstop as silnylon. Please do not make a quilt out of silnylon, as it will not breathe.
